Health Care at B40MS
Students are our #1 priority at Branciforte Middle School. Our health office is run by a former Medical Assistant who supports our District Nurse to serve our students with their Health Care Needs.
Medications At School
In order for your student to have any medications at school, a Medication Administration form must be completed by the student's physician annually. Medications are kept locked in the Health Office, with the exception of Asthma inhalers that the doctor has given permission to self carry on the Asthma Health Care Plan (HCP) form. Forms are available in the office or download and print the form at the bottom of the page.
Medical Conditions
If your student has a medical condition, please indicate that in your back to school paperwork through the IC Parent Portal. Parents will need to have their student's physician complete a Health Care Plan (HCP) for their student's medical condition annually. Forms are available in the office or download and print the form at the bottom of the page.
Required School Immunizations
Per Health and Safety Code 120335, students will not be unconditionally admitted or advanced to the 7th grade without being fully immunized against Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Polio, Rubella, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Varicella. Students may be conditionally admitted if they are in the process of a "catch up" schedule and within the exclusion period.
Required Doses (modified if on catch up schedule):
-
5 DTaP + 1 Tdap for 7th grade entry
-
4 Polio
-
3 Hep B
-
2 MMR & Varicella
Injuries
If your student is injured, please contact the Health Office so we can better assist you nd your student at school. Students may be eligible for medical accommodations for injuries.
Menstrual Needs
The office has sanitary pads and tampons for students anytime. If a student has cramps, we have an electric heating pad in the health office and hot water bottles students can sit with discreetly in class. If a student is unable to get a hold of a parent to bring replacement clothes for a menstrual accident, we have new leggings and underwear available. We also encourage menstruating students to keep a spare pair of clothes in their lockers for emergencies. Any pain medication will need to be taken before school at home, or administered by a parent during the day. Students MAY NOT carry any pain medication on campus without a doctor completing a medication administration form.
Food Allergies
SCCS requires a special food services form to be completed by a physician to accommodate students with food allergies. This form will need to be done annually. Forms are available in the office or download and print the form at the bottom of the page.
